From a 30,000 ft view, never made much sense to me to


burn our food for energy.

Corn is useful for other things. Oil and gas aren't.

Sure, corn is renewable, but producing and burning it isn't any better for the environment than extracting, refining, and burning oil or gas. Especially if we are cutting down trees and flooding the earth with fertilizer to do it.

Makes more sense to me to just use our oil and gas reserves while clean energy continues to develop until it is scaleable and affordable enough to be truly useful. Not sure what problem ethanol solves other than moving money from oil and gas into the pockets of agriculture.
